Honestly, some days I love my job, its so freaking fun and I don't even want to leave....and then some days I want to punch someone in the face. Not even a metaphor, I have to restrain myself. But that's Starbucks I guess. One day its amazing, then the next its a steamy pile of crap. You never really know what its going to be going into it. And I'm going into it not even half awake at 4am 6 days a week so.... BUT I have some really amazing coworkers that always seem to make me laugh hysterically even when things are sucking royally. Our crazy voices and singing over the headset makes it all worth it, and the weird looks I get when telling people their totals in my best kermit the frog voice is basically the only reason I'm still sane.... ish.... xD

But anywho you guys could care less about all that.

I always feel like a kid who forgot their homework after a few months of not posting anything and come onto my journal like "I'm drawing I swear... I just... keep forgetting to show you guys because... life... and job... and stuff...".... it kinda starts sounding like "I swear Mrs. Jones I did my homework, but a boy on the bus took it then threw it at a cat he saw out the window. Also my dog ate my science project."

I'll post more crap soon I swear.... when I want to. So suck it. I'm busy. Go away. Not that anyone has been pestering me for new drawings anyways. I just like to pretend that someone does. There's a short stubby man inside my conscience wearing a dA t-shirt yelling at me constantly to post more of my drawings. I want him to shut up, but I also want to eat dinner and watch cartoons. So good night ;)

So despite my lack of activity on dA (my last submission was in October) I just wanted to assure you that I have in fact been drawing a lot, however I haven't really had time to share them. I did however start cutting out my favorite sketches form my doodle pages, coloring some of them, and pasting them on the wall as one big sketch dump that I can see every day. Eventually I may take a photo of it and post it as the next addition to my sketch dump series.
Anatomy is something that I've been practicing A LOT over the past few months and I'm really starting to improve. I was going through some of my old sketch books and comparing those sketches to my more recent ones, and I was pretty surprised by how much I've come along. Its really encouraging to see that, since anatomy and posing have been something that has been causing me much grief... and to see that I'm getting better... it makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time.
I'm going to try my best to post at least one of my drawings a month. We'll see how that goes.

And one of the reasons I haven't really bothered to share my drawings?: Me and :iconblue-a-touille: otherwise known as my best bud, are teaming up more than ever to start our own photography business under our already existing collaborative name Stark-Contrast. It isn't officially launched yet because we have yet to get a business license(s) but a good friend of ours that owns her own legit and successful photography business has been kind of mentoring us and is going to be referring some of her clients to us. So we are pretty excited about that! We'll be posting some of our new stuff over there from our recent sessions and photoshoots, so be sure to check it out!

As some of you may know, I participated in Nanowrimo last year (and failed miserably, but still with my head held high). Well I thought I'd give a brief update on my novel. I am rewriting it from the beginning only using my favorite passages and dialogue, but for the most part starting from scratch. A lot has changed... I've found ways to enhance the story line and make it more interesting. It's still as complex and elaborate as ever, but it makes more sense. There were a lot of things I was not sure about in terms of the plot: the 'why' the 'what for' and the 'how'. So in order to counteract that I was as vague and aloof about those parts as possible so no one could tell I had no idea what the heck I was doing. However since I started restructuring the plot, brainstorming and planning my major rewrite everything has been falling into place. It's exciting because I now know how to write this bad boy. I feel like I really know my characters more... and I like them better too :P So even though none of you, well besides one of you, know what my novel is about and probably don't care, I wanted to share this with you. :D Maybe some day, if I can buckle down and do this thing, some of you will be able to read it. That is of course assuming that I can get it published once I finally finish it... which is giving myself a lot of credit. Wishful thinking is good though. Dreamers are the ones who change the world, and so I will try to fight my vulcan tendencies of being logical and rational and be a dreamer.

In other news I've been incredibly busy busting my butt trying to get a job... so I haven't been drawing as often as I'd like to. It really makes me sad because its my thing... but finding a job takes priority. With my wing-man/girl :iconblue-a-touille: is getting married NEXT MONTH (:omfg:) I really need to get work soon so I can get them an awesome gift. (And I know you are probably reading this so I will say no more on the subject)

That is all.

Space art!

1 min read
So I had a space art itch I had to scratch... I've always been a little hesitant to make any more because I want to keep my gallery focused and I didn't want to frustrate/confuse you guys. I tend to dabble in different types of art which can make ones gallery look... scattered.

BUT! I made a piece yesterday and I decided to make a new account side account specifically for space art called AstroScarry so I can make space art to my hearts content and still keep my main gallery "focused" on illustration and photography. Go and check it out if you want to, and watch if you want to see more!

So I realized its been since October since I made a journal entry. So the following are some updates:

1. I failed Nanowrimo, which is given since you didn't see me gloating about winning anywhere. I did however almost make it to 25K words which for me is fantastic.
2. I am going to rework/rewrite the entire story. I am still going to keep some things, like dialog, descriptions, and scenes I like, but I am going to go about writing it in a totally different way. For one I am no going to be so chapter based (writing chapter by chapter solely to write chapters) I will still be writing in chapters but it will also be split up into 4 parts and I will be focusing on establishing a firm foundation for that part rather than that chapter and try to set the stage for the next and final parts and make them tie in and flow together. This way I can focus on painting a clear picture of the world and mentality around my characters and make sure that important plot details are stronger and make much more sense. Before things were being presented in such a scattered, random, "oh by the way" kind of way that it sometimes worked but at the same time didn't work.
3. I buckled down and bought 2 art books and have been practicing like mad. I've been doodling hands a lot lately... and sketching my own hand in various poses. I still haven't practiced much with anatomy, just hands mostly, but I will be. The books I bought are great and have a lot of useful information and well drawn diagrams.
4. I have a job interview tomorrow! If I get it its not very many hours.... 6 hours a week probably minimum wage, but I've also applied at the place next door and I'm working on them. I could totally have two jobs. I kind of need it right now... I'm pretty much broke and I have major bills to pay.
5. I sold my first print here on dA a little bit ago.... I made 10 cents... although I'm not sure how I even collect that money.... But now I can't say that I haven't made a dime from my photography/art.
6. I did photos for :iconblue-a-touille: and her fiancé and I've been inspired to do more in photography, maybe someday charge people for photography sessions... so I can pay my bills xD and eat xD

OK so another thing. I'M DOING COMMISSIONS! YES! So here is what I'm offering:

Portrait Sketch of you or your character in my style of drawing(not colored): $4
Portrait Sketch of you or your character in my style of drawing(colored): $6
Illustration sketch of you or your character in my style(not colored): $8
Illustration sketch of you or your character in my style(colored): $10

Yes they are rather cheap for commissions, but I am not very skilled. The difference between the "portrait sketches" and the "illustration sketches" is that portrait sketches will be rather simple and are basically just a bust of your character with not too many details (examples: fav.me/d48wc6i fav.me/d30txzt) The illustration sketches usually consist of more than just the head and bust, but have lots of more details. It can have an interesting pose and expression (just make sure I can do this pose and expression that you want)(examples: fav.me/d4a0tpb fav.me/d3g98kc) I apply color to the original scanned sketch via photoshop, and you can choose not to have color applied to either the portrait sketches or the illustration sketches and this option is slightly cheaper. All commissions will have my "Scarry" signature whether they are colored or not, but you have the option to ask for it to be smaller and more subtle in your copy of the drawing.

Other things you need to know:
Please be very descriptive when tell me what you want. You may include links to reference photos or illustrations of your character or the pose/expression you want. This way I have more of an idea of what you want. I will ask for clarification if you are not descriptive enough.
You don't have to pay me until after the work is done. However I will not give you the full size until I am payed. When I am done I will send you a preview with a watermark to assure you that it is done, and so you can review my work. After I receive payment I will send you the full size. This is so neither of us are jipped.
I have a choice whether I want to submit the commission to dA or not. If I do I will give you credit for it being your character and I will link to your page. It is your choice if you want me to include anything about the character.
If you would like to order a commission from me, send me a note ON DEVIANTART and nowhere else. In the note include the details of what you would like me to draw (as discussed before). Also include the email address you want me to send your final drawing to.
I will not do nude, sexually explicit, or gory illustrations. Lets keep it PG.
All payments will be through PAYPAL ONLY.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
